Performer. Choreographer. Deaf Artist
Anna Gichan is a dancer, choreographer, and company member with AXIS Dance Company, where she has toured to Germany, Mexico, Lincoln Center, Stanford and around the USA, with appearances in the NYtimes and SF Chronicle.
Anna’s movement practice is rooted in floorwork, athleticism, improvisation with a deep curiosity about sensory perception — how bodies receive and understand information.
As a Deaf Queer artist, Anna's relationship to sound, language, and environment are central to the way they move and collaborates. Anna holds a BFA in Dance from Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts and has developed work through residencies at Ballet 22, Gibney Dance, Gallim Dance, and CDI + Brooklyn Arts Exchange.
